Every person in the USofA should have the experience of being rousted on a serious beef--the kind that occasions lots of pushing, shouting, threats and obscenity--by a good cop on a bad, or a bad cop on ANY day.

I got into a certain amount of trouble when I proposed that--aggressive police busts--as part of high school civics curriculum, when I was in Teacher Ed. You have to have the experience of being "other." The earlier you learn what you and your fellow citizens empower the cops to do to "others" in YOUR name, the more likely you are gonna be to keep an eye on the fuckers, and restrain them. Cuz they'll do anything and everything they think you'll let'em do.
